The project was designed to promote quality diabetes education and to assist diabetes educators in a variety of settings to promote evidence based education. This Project was a World Diabetes Foundation funded project that was training a diabetes educator for every island of the country. The project included six courses within a period of three years in six provinces of the country. These courses included one week theory classes and one week clinical. 174 health professionals trained and 174 diabetic clinics established under the project. 243 diabetes screening and awareness camps conducted and 13572 people screened for diabetes and risk factors. Through the screening camps 475 people newly diagnosed. Through established clinics 543 patients registered and care provided.
